Bio
Ackson Tyson Mwale is a lecturer of sociology and research methods at the University of Zambia and currently the Cluster Lead for One Health and Climate change at the Africa Centre of excellence for infection diseases of humans and Animals (ACEIDHA). He has a PhD in Sociology from the University of Glasgow, a MSc in Sociology from Stockholm University and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Demography from the University of Zambia. His expertise lies in gender, poverty, inequality, climate change, and One Health, focusing particularly on human African trypanosomiasis (sleeping sickness) with more than a decade of experience conducting both quantitative and qualitative research. His recent research applies intersectionality, vulnerability, gender performativity, and social systems theory to understand how social and ecological factors shape the risk of sleeping sickness and access to care. He has contributed to several interdisciplinary projects addressing social determinants of health and evaluation projects on social protection, poverty, gender analysis, SRHR, maternal and reproductive health.
