Juliet Tembo is a Lecturer in the Department of Media and Communication Studies and a PhD candidate at the University of Johannesburg. She teaches media management, radio and television production, and business and economics journalism, and served as Assistant Dean (Undergraduate) for the School of Humanities and Social Sciences from 2018 to 2022.
Her research brings together media, gender, feminist macroeconomics, climate justice and China–Africa relations. She has trained journalists on financial reporting through the Bloomberg Media Initiative Africa and on illicit financial flows, and has spoken on panels covering gender discrimination in Zambian media workplaces and media monitoring of elections.
Alongside her academic work she has practised as a communications consultant, and previously served as Projects and Research Officer at the Media Trust Fund and as a research executive at Steadman Research Services.
